What "before and after" should mean
A few of the one-time packages an assistant will point you to skip the "after" part.
When we asked ChatGPT this exact question about a Chicago small business, it pointed to two one-time packages. GeoBuddy's Fix Pack, at $299, says on its own page that it retests after two weeks, but you install the files yourself, so the after depends on you. AIMention's Done-For-You Implementation, at $199, did not say, in what the assistant quoted, whether it retests at all.
Perplexity pointed to two more. AEO Zone's Local Visibility Snapshot, at $97, is a one-time visibility analysis with a written plan. AI Find My Business's AI Visibility Snapshot, at $300, tests fifty buyer-intent prompts. Neither description mentioned a later test to check what changed.
We have not called any of these four to confirm what they deliver, this is only what the assistants said when asked. If a package's before-and-after is really just a before, with the after left to you, that is worth knowing before you pay. Our day 14 test is not optional or self-installed. Who got named instead of us
On September 11, 2026, we asked ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity this exact question about a Chicago business like ours. None of them named us.
ChatGPT named GeoBuddy and AIMention, both described above. Perplexity named AEO Zone and AI Find My Business. Gemini said it could not find a specific one-time package under $400 with explicit before-and-after testing, and pointed instead to Boostability, whose SEO packages start at $399 a month, a monthly retainer, not a one-time fee.
We were asked, scored, and not named: zero out of six questions on that run, this one included. That is the same free check we sell to other businesses, run on ourselves.
